My mother made my dress, from a pattern we bought online. It is a Tudor-style dress (circa 1560). The main part of the dress is made from light ivory brocade with gold roses. The front inset and sleeve linings are gold satin. The dress has the traditional Tudor square neckline and belled sleeves. Underneath the bell sleeves are fitted gold satin sleeves that tie at wrist, elbow, and mid bicep with gold cord. The inset and sleeves are edged in a gold and ivory Celtic braid. The back of the dress is laced through many tiny eyelets with fine gold cord. For the reception, I added gold fairy wings with several faux ivory roses in the center. Our wedding was Celtic Medieval/Renaissance with fantasy touches. |
