Holiday Roll Ingredients
1 package Pillsbury Hot Roll Dough Mix (in a box)*
¾ cup warm water
1 egg
3 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. maple flavor (liquid spice)

Later: 6 Tbsp. melted butter

* Purchase Fleishmann's Active Dry Yeast (in ¼ oz., 7g packages) instead of using Red Star -- here's why

Filling Ingredients
½ cup sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/3 cup chopped pecans

Glaze Ingredients
1 ½ cups powdered sugar
¼ tsp. maple flavor
2-3 Tbsp. milk

1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast (that comes with Hot Roll Dough Mix) in warm water using a wooden -- not metal -- spoon. Stir in egg, sugar, and maple flavoring. Add the Hot Roll Dough Mix powder and blend well.

2. Kneed on floured surface for 2-3 minutes until smooth and satiny. Place dough in a greased bowl and cover.

3. Let rise in a warm place until light and doubled in size (about 30-45 minutes). Prepare the filling mixture.

4. Divide dough into three balls. Roll out one of the balls on a floured surface until it's the size of a pizza pan. Line a pizza pan with greased sheet of foil and place first dough layer on top.

5. Brush first layer of dough with 2 Tbsp. of melted butter and sprinkle with 1/3 of the nuts and cinnamon/sugar filling. Repeat with other two layers.

6. Place a glass on top of dough layers to make a "center circle". Cut from glass to outside edge to form 16 "pie wedges" -- as if spokes coming out from the center of a wheel. Twist each of the wedges 3 times and tuck bottoms under. (See photo above for example.) Dribble with more butter and pecans.

7. Let rise in a warm place another 30-45 minutes.

8. Bake at 375° for 20-25 minutes. Glaze while hot and garnish with cherries.
