I have two versions...one for when you're really bored and want to cook a lot...and one for when you want homemade chicken noodle soup but don't want to spend all day in the kitchen... The Long Version 2 lbs. skinned chicken parts 5 cups water 1 small onion, finely chopped 4 carrots cut into small pieces 4 ribs of celery cut into 1/4-inch pieces 1 Tbsp. instant chicken bouillon 1 Tbsp. minced parsley 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. rosemary 1/4 tsp pepper 1 package frozen Reames homestyle egg noodles 1 cup water 1. Combine all ingredients but egg noodles in slow-cooking pot. Cover and cook on medium setting (on the slow-cooker guage, not the stove's) for 6-8 hours until chicken and vegetables are tender. 2. Remove chicken pieces from cooking pot and set aside to cool slightly. Increase heat setting on slow-cooker to high and add egg noodles and 1 cup hot water, and stir to blend. Cover and continue to cook for 30 more minutes. 3. Meanwhile, remove chicken from bones and cut into bite-sized pieces. Return cut-up chicken to cooking pot to heat as noodles finish cooking. Reduce heat to "warm" for serving. The Short Version 2 lbs. skinned chicken parts 7 cups water 1 pouch of Wyler's Mrs. Grass Homestyle Chicken Noodle Soup Mix 1/4 of a small onion, finely chopped 4 carrots cut into small pieces 1/4 tsp pepper 1 package frozen Reames homestyle egg noodles 1 cup water 1. Put chicken pieces and 7-cups water in cooking pot and bring to boil. Add the Soup Starter mix and transfer the pot to the slow-cooker base. Both are yummy...just depends on the time you have... You can get the frozen egg noodles in the freezer section of the grocery store. |
